College Admissions Essay: If I Want To Go To School

Why would I not want to live (and go to school) in a town where I can eat ribs at The Joint? This is the first place my aunt brought me, after picking me up at the airport. I was a freshman in high school and was enthusiastic to visit New Orleans because Lil Wayne, my favorite rapper, grew up there. We stayed in the Lower Garden District, it turns out, a very different place from Weezy’s Hollygrove. During the day, while my aunt was at work, I navigated the maze-like streets of the French Quarter, spellbound by the skinny, brightly colored houses decorated with beads, the warm air in my face gave me a sense of well being. The lush vegetation in New Orleans, in distinct contrast to my home in Brooklyn, captivated my imagination. I heard about Tulane on that trip and it has been my first choice ever since.
