In a world full of hate and war, most people forget that a small act of random kindness can change even the saddest of hearts. Kindness has become a foreign language, one I make an effort to practice everyday. I work in a coffee shop, which requires a tremendous about of patience, as well as hospitality and customer service. Everyday, I make it apparent to myself that you never know what is going through an individual's mind, or the day they have had. A basic understanding, often forgotten by many; I strive constantly to “be the sunshine in someone else’s day”, as my mother always tells me. As a high school senior at Penn-Trafford High School, I have an opportunity to practice my favorite language daily, just using small acts of kindness. Whether it be, a smile in the hallway or even help with homework, you truly never know how much it means to someone. I participate in a number of teams and clubs at my school. My favorites being basketball and Ovation. Basketball has taught me so many lessons in my eight years of playing; From learning how to coach my teammates to be the best they can be, to learning how to be coached. I take pride in music by being apart of my high school all-girl-acapella group, Ovation. I am so proud to be a part of this diverse group. Especially being a senior, and the only senior in our beautiful group this year. I am very excited to be the only senior, as well as an Ovation veterane (This being my second year in the group), because this gives me an opportunity to lead with accuracy in directing the younger girls to improve and learn further in their musical career.
