Throughout my life there has been a greater emphasis on music and artistic talents rather than on physical attributes. I am not athletically inclined in the slightest, but music comes naturally and a love for it grew from my first and only piano teacher. She threw me my most secure life line when I was seven years old. My parents bought a heavy, ancient and well-used upright piano from one of our neighbors many years ago. It was almost mesmerizing to have a piano at my house and not just my grandparents.…

Maybe an appropriate joke or story to break the ice, and then I think it will catch audience attention. Additionally, I think the body language and tone of voice will give the speaker an authoritative presence. Briana, thanks for the warm welcome!…

I tend to talk a lot and will even talk over people if I come up with a thought or idea and I do it without realizing it. So what I personally need to do is to self-monitor my interactions with people and when talking about issues and to listen more and to wait to speak to voice my opinions. Another way to communicate more effectively is when we get mad, to wait first before we talk about the problem. We need to calm down so that we do not say things that we do not mean. This will also give us time to think about what we want to say to one another and how we want to say it.…
