I attended the Kirov Academy, American Ballet Theater, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and found myself in a conflicting part of my training. I wanted to dance more, but education also held grave importance in my life. Finding the balance between ballet and school was like a labyrinth. I had sacrificed multitudinous hours of sleep and social activities for ballet. My freshman and sophomore years of high school were spent between the ballet studio and classroom. After an eight hour day of school, I was greeted with five lovely hours dance, and after three hours of homework I would finally rest into a wholesome five hours of sleep. Although I did not mind my strenuous schedule, I knew it was time to make a change.
When I was 16 years old, I left my home, family, and friends to pursue classical ballet. In the summer of 2014, I received my acceptance to the prestigious Nutmeg Conservatory and accepted it without hesitation. I felt indescribable joy being able to study ballet in an environment that was tailored for other people like me.
