College Admissions Essay: Defining Moment In My Life

Most people can pinpoint the defining moment in their life. The moment that alters a person to the core. A moment so impactful that it leaves the person questioning everything about life and leave you with one gift: a purpose. At the age of six, my moment came. For a year, my three-year-old sister had been sick. At first, as a middle-class family, we were confident that we could afford any medications. However, as her condition deteriorated, our sanguine attitude vanished. For middle-class families in the United States, similar illnesses would have required no more than a routine treatment; however, not where we lived. In Haiti, medical care is almost non-existent, which makes reliable medical care impossible to find. Even so, my mother searched all around the country for doctors in hopes of finding answers, but to no avail. When doctors proved inadequate, so did voodoo priests. I can still remember my sorrowful mother slowly entering the house after futile trips, and my father leaving the house in desperation.
Not long after, my sister died. This tore the heart out of my family. For a while, I relieved my sister’s funeral every time I arrived from school. Most

After thorough research, it is my belief that being a PA is the best fit for me and with fitting reasons. Firstly, being a PA would allow me to build personal relationship with my patience, which would provide with me with the opportunity to treat the whole person. Secondly, it would mean working with a team of medical professionals in attending to our patients’ needs. Thirdly, the flexibility of field of physician assistant studies will allow me to dive into various specialties increasing the number of ways I will be able to help those in needs. Lastly, the Bureau of Labor statistics, from 2012 to 2022, expects PA employment to increase by 38 percent which makes for a promising
