College Admissions Essay: Creativity And Incredible Art

Improved Essays
Creativity and Artistic ability have always come naturally to me, drawing more than anything else. From childhood it was dream to go to The Art Institute; I would watch the commercials about the pamphlet with the three pictures to draw and just knew that was where I wanted to go. When I was younger drawing was my passion, anything I look at I can put on paper and that's what I wanted to do. But as life happened years went by and I hadn't even attempted to draw anything let alone decide who I actually wanted to be in life. Lack of time and inspiration weighed heavily on my shoulders as I had been in the military for 4 1/2 years and nearing the end of my initial contract. Facing the harsh reality of "do I reenlist?"or "do I go to school?" …show more content…
The remaining question I asked myself constantly "who do I want to be?", there so many opportunities so many options. Then I got stationed in Vilseck Germany, there wasn't much around as far as shops and bakery's many of the military spouses would make everything you needed and sell it. Most popular was professional cakes. I was intrigued at the thought of edible art, after seeing a few cakes being sold I decided it looked fun so I would try it. There wasn't anyone to teach me what to do, so before I began I did some research. For hours I would watch videos on techniques, and look up tools that I would need. I looked up online classes, and took a few classes on Craftsy.com which I really enjoyed. I'm not at all a great cook, so it came as a surprise to everyone, and myself when I finally started baking how beautiful my cakes actually were. That was when I realized that this was my passion. My actual goal in the next 5 to 10 years is to own my own business once I complete my degree. There will be quite a few obstacles I will need to overcome, such as proper technique, and business management skills, but I believe dedication and focus on my goals are going to help me overcome these challenges.

July 20th, 2016 Recently, I have found myself in conversations with friends who have had tremendous difficulty trying to do what they love. I met Tyler the other day; he asked me if I still work at the same boring job after so many years. I told him I do not plan to change it until the company does not want me anymore. Tyler said that he is still looking for the perfect job, in which he loves what he does and earns enough money.…

I started baking at a young age, and right then I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I make cakes for family and friends whenever I can and also took some Wilton cake decorating classes. I even took 2 years of ceramics classes and an AP 3D art class to better my skill. I like the idea that I can replicate something while making it edible as well. I love working with fondant, gum paste, and modeling chocolate.…

One of my earliest memories is of my friends and me, age nine, in the woods, holding tree branches and pretending to fight monsters. We called it the Maze Game: each person chose a rock, leaf, or some other token to be their figure, and placed it in a labyrinth made of twigs. Each person would alternate between acting as the narrator, the in-game characters, and the enemies. Because we were homeschooled, we had the opportunity to devote time to such shenanigans; we made our own fun out of whatever we could find in the house, outside, and at the Dollar Store.…

Undoubtedly, art has always been an inspiration for me to be more creative in my everyday life; similarly, art allows me to exercise my imagination to the fullest extent. It is unfortunate that society is lacking this originality today, as creativity is directly intertwined with innovation. For me, this concept definitely applies, and thus I believe that art pushes me to seek experiences outside of my comfort zone. More specifically, I recently participated in Ottawa’s Young at Art competition, where I submitted an original piece of artwork.…

The heat from the stage lights, the watchful gazes of the audience, and the sweat dripping off of our faces as we struggle to remember our lines, these sensations of being on stage are what caused the performing arts to become not only an activity, but also a passion and an unexpected source of personal growth. Through my experiences in drama and music I have been able to discover my own meaning of fulfillment and define who the person behind my appearance truly is. My passion in the performing arts started when I was a young child first learning to play the violin. Picking up the violin at the age of 6, I became stuck on one of the most basic songs for almost a whole year. At that time no one believed that I could play the violin, my teacher thought that I was too hyperactive and even my mom attempted to convince me to quit.…

I have always been more on the “imaginative” side. I like to draw and create things in my spare time. Additionally, I enjoy reading fiction, which is based solely on the imagination of others, and writing my own small works of fiction and poems. It’s not unusual for me as an adult to rely on creativity as a form of problem solving when I am confronted with certain scenarios at work, school, or my personal life.…

Over the years, I always thought that art was just for artists, that on every art class I took growing up I was not artistic or creative enough. This semester I decided to take an Expressive Arts in Education class and it changed my life. In this class, I found out a new version of myself and my ability to do something and be creative. It was not just “an art class”, I am sure that not only me but my classmates walked out that class with so many new things that as a student I was never expecting. I clearly developed my creative art connection, how to combat the fear of the unknown and fear of judgment, and how to open myself not only in an art classroom but in my everyday life.…
