I have not had a life changing experience that prompted me to choose medicine, nor did I choose this career path at an early age. The truth is that I cannot imagine myself doing anything else. Often times, medicine is referred to as a ‘calling’- a word that describes exactly how I feel.
At a local hospital, I was given the opportunity to spend three weeks volunteering my time in the General Practice clinic, where I got the chance to perform simple medical procedures such as urinalysis, blood pressure, blood glucose concentration and even an ECG.
