Within a second, there is a pulmonic and systemic circulation. Deoxygenated blood is replaced with oxygenated blood traveling from head to toe. It is a remarkable organ that I wish to dedicate my time and energy discovering, exploring, and helping those who have trouble with it.
My understanding of the cardiovascular system emerged from a primary subject- Medical Terminology. Learning all those terms made me understand diseases and disorders such as: Gastrointestinal infection and Cerebrovascular accident. It was overwhelming at first, because it felt like an entirely new language, but eventually, I mastered it.
Medical Terminology inspired me to take Anatomy & Physiology in 11th grade which expanded my understanding of the terminology I learned. It helped me further understand the cause of diseases and the functions of all the organs and organ systems that make up the human body. But learning the makeup of the body was not enough. I needed to know more.
