College Admissions Essay: Away For The Summer

Decent Essays
Away for the summer, and swimming everyday. During the summer of my sophomore year I went to the warm and humid Baltimore city. During this summer I spent a great deal learning of myself and the world around me. For beginners I spent it with my aunt and uncle, and spent no time with my own inclosed family (excluding my sister). I spent it without the support of my close and dear family. Throughout the experience I was given choices to make, and these little or big choices I had to make on my own. I spent a long time making decines without any help, and this helped shape who I am now. Secondly I spent the summer swimming, or for a matter of fact learning to swim. I always liked water, but I could never swim in a way that allowed me to say I knew how. The days were hot and for the most part my days were spent in my aunt’s pool in their backyard. This helped me to figure out in what way I needed to swim in order to hang out with my cousins in the deep end. …show more content…
I did this in the long hours I spent just hanging out my cousins, and when I was with my aunt and uncle we would talk about what I thought I wanted to do in the future. This time spent with my family helped me reflect on the choices I will make in the future. During this summer break I changed in ways that shaped my very being. This summer, the summer of my sophomore year, helped to make me into the person I am now. This break will forever be the break that shaped my own individual self. In this break I became who I am

Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan open up with describing imagery of a “Year Without a Summer,” a dark time that gave birth to much darker children, monsters that lurk still in our society to this day. Creatures of the night were fixated and empathetic about our humanity, except for one—vampires. Vampires since the beginning of their creation are perceived as these erotic, sexy, lust evoking, blood thirsty, irresistible terrifying creatures. Creatures that have lost all connection to their humanity, set free from mortal flesh and gifted with eternal youth and primal lust. Christine Seifert tells us “Twilights” author Stephanie Meyers has created this erotic desire surrounding abstinence.…

Fall Break My excitement leading up to fall break was almost unbearable, but when it finally arrived, I spent the first two days in bed, catching up on much needed sleep. Trying to sing ‘Jesus loves the little children’ in Spanish, which turned out terribly, and losing almost every round of ‘pato pato ganso’, which translates to ‘duck duck goose’, is all part of an experience that is important to me. These moments, which were part of a trip, are most memorable because they helped break down the barriers that come cultural shock.
