A New World
Imagine what your life would be like if you didn’t have the capability to read or write. For me, life would be quite dull, and a harsh reality. Reading is my escape. Nothing compares yo the moment when I open a book. I get so involved into the story that I feel as if I am one of the characters getting to experience everything alongside them. And when I, or anyone for that matter writes, they have the opportunity to create a masterpiece in which their readers can too feel that sensation. As far back as my memory can go, I have always cherished and loved being able to open up a book and escape to a new world, along with just knowing that I can create possible life changing story to share with my readers.

As a writer you have the power of letting someone escape from the world and into the words you write at your fingertips. I personally don’t have as strong of a connection to writing as I do reading. Although, I did have the opportunity to possibly let someone escape, not necessarily into a new world, but into the past. In the fifth grade we were assigned to write a book that contained just a few pages, and I knew exactly what I was going to write. Not shortly before this, my family adopted a precious baby girl from China, and I knew this would be the perfect time to tell her story. I immediately went home and got started. I had never felt this type of excitement before, because I had never done anything like this. I had never written a book before. I began writing about the long drawn out process it took to finally hold her in our arms, how thrilled I was to be a big sister, and how thankful I was that God handpicked her to be in our family. I was given the opportunity to provide my new sister with words of how much I love her. She is eight now and has read this book before, but doesn’t fully comprehend all the things I wrote. Even though this book was written by my fifth grade self, I know that when she gets to that stage in her life when she can take this book into its fullness. she can hopefully enter into the past with the words I

My Rough Reality As days pass, I'd notice myself all alone. No one to my left, no one to my right, all alone, from left in right. It started in my early adulthood, it started minor, but now I can't even go outside without being paranoid or given dirty looks, I spend most of my time staring at the wall, thinking, if there's any hope, or meaning left to my life anymore. It usually ends up with me screaming, and crying; crying myself to my sleep, or sometimes barely getting any sleep, because the voices usually wake me up, constantly. It convinces me to open my eyes, but I try not to listen, because I know they're right in front of me.…

I have loved to read for as long as I can remember. My parents spent a lot of time reading to me when I was little and it didn’t take me long to teach myself to read on my own. Throughout my elementary school years, I spent most of my time reading. As I got older, I began to gain other responsibilities and interests which left me with less time for literary escape. Books, however, have always remained precious to me and the time I spend reading is never unpleasant nor wasted.…

Looking into the future, I see a variety of options and opportunities. A year from today, I envision myself taking care of my family and my son/daughter. My plan by this time of the year is to be enrolled in college classes whether it’s online or on campus. From what it looks like, I will most likely be taking online college classes to ensure that I can take care of my child. I currently have a job as well, so I see myself continuing to work there as well as manage everything included in my everyday life.…

Reading has always been a part of my life. Starting from a young child all the way up to where I am now I can remember many different ways reading has impacted my life. For some people reading is what they did to pass the time, but for me it has always been different. Being a small child I did not enjoy the outdoors in the same sense other children did. When I went outside I wanted to sit by a tree and read a book instead of run around and play on the playset.…

Reading was something I was practically raised on as a child. My dad made sure that my younger sister and I were read to every single night before he tucked us in, passing down a tradition that he believed had aided in shaping his own childhood. I distinctly remember my simple mind roaming along in the lands of Narnia and Middle Earth as such books instilled in me a restless sense of adventure and a longing to learn. This longing drove me to read more and more on my own, all the while my father continued to read to me at a higher and more complex level, that at the time seemed unattainable. Yet books to me were journies completely separate from my own world and I could never seem to envision them as anything more than a source of entertainment.…

More Than What I See “Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” This quote by Orion Swett Marden made me discover the strength I have to overcome adversities. Survival, culture, hate, compassion, triumphs and failures-this is my life story summed up. If my life was a literary piece of art, it would bear no title. “Titles”, they say, describe “content”;…

Reading didn’t seem to be such a task, but it seemed to open up my mind. As I connected to the characters in each book I read I felt a little more joy. Every morning before school I would go to Mrs. Baird and tell her about the new book I was reading and connect to her on a more personal level. But one day I came to school and Mrs. Baird wasn’t there. When class began a substitute teacher told us the tragedy.…

Being a kid I had found reading and writing to be enjoyable. In my childhood my grandmother would read to me all the time. She would read all kinds of different books; such as Charlotte 's Web, Little House On the Prairie, and Sesame Street. Charlotte 's Web was one of my all time favorite books. While I got a little older I had started a Diary and every day I would write about my good days and my bad days, people, my life, and what I wanted to be in the future.…

The brilliant fiction novels I read when I was younger, the environment my brother and mother set up for me revolving around books, ability to paint new stories never before thought of, and to escape the droll of a mundane life are the molds that have shaped me in to the writer I am today. Other than my brother’s immense reading skills, was my mother’s love for reading that inspired me to be a writer and reader. I recall every other weekend involving a trip to Allatoona, a vast lake holding many beaches of man made sand. Right before we left my mother would take me to the bookstore to pick out a novel for me to read on the sand.…
