College Admissions Essay: A Good Overall Student

Decent Essays
I have always been a good overall student, but I have excelled in Mathematics more so than any other core subject. My goal is to graduate college with a degree in Mathematics and a teaching license. I harbor a passion for math and for helping others. Being able to share my love of math, while also inspiring others to set goals and follow their dreams would be so special for me. It has always been my nature to help others. When assisting a friend sitting next to me in class or tutoring during lunch, helping others get that “Aha” or “Oh, I get it” moment makes me as happy as it makes them. Whether it comes from someone I am helping or when I experience it myself with a difficult subject or situation, that light bulb moment is invariably rewarding.

The WDHS scholarship committee should select me as their nominee for these scholarships because as a driven student, I devote myself to successfully take advantage of the opportunities these scholarships will offer me. I am a well rounded student who goes above and beyond on everything I undertake, whether it be academics, athletics, extracurriculars, leadership, or service. While I am a high-achieving student, I prefer to be sought as a scholar-one for whom knowledge is about more than test scores and grades, and for whom learning is an appetite rather than a means to an end. To me, education is the key to success; therefore, my passion for education is connected with my desire to help others.…
