I will be the first person in my family to go into any type of schooling after high school and that is something I have always strived for and something my mother who raised me on her own has always hoped for me. Watching her struggle to put food on the table and having to stay in a job she got once my father and her divorced that she did not love has made me determined to overcome all the obstacles I have had in my way. It has also made me very serious about entering the field of phlebotomy. A career that is growing overall and somewhere I can grow in as well.

I am currently employed at Texas Roadhouse as server. I love working with different people and interacting with everyone since I have always been a people person who loves to help. This is currently how I support myself, help my family as much as I can and how I will put myself through phlebotomy training at the Colorado Phlebotomy training place.

This scholarship could help me get somewhere secure in my life. It can help me enter a field I am very passionate and excited about. This is the stepping stone to a life I have been working towards since high school getting good grades being inducted into National Honor Society and achieving Honor Roll throughout every semester. This scholarship would give me the amazing opportunity to work and help so many people as well as giving me a successful career path.

An unusually fragile underclassman: devoid of faith and fearful of a new environment brimming with the cold embrace of the unknown. “What do you like about yourself?” Sitting in the audience, listening to an assembly during my freshman orientation of high school, this existential question hit me like a tidal wave—initially destructive yet ultimately metamorphic. Those around me blessed with a wealth of confidence from a young age beamed with vanity: athletes, scholars, musicians and those exceptionally precocious few with the ability to thrive in multiple environments.…

A heartfelt and honored belief in my home comes from St. Ignatius of Loyola, Cura Personalis, which means care the whole person. As a family, we talk about the choices we are called upon to make, everything from what movie to see, what friendships to develop and even what career path to pursue. As I consider life choices, such as college, the decisions to act in ways that honor God and benefit the lives of others are more significant and formative. I can think of no greater way for me to give to a greater good than to become an educator, who cares for each individual student, and the Ignatian values at Loyola are core to my goal.…
