Throughout my years in high school, I’ve decided to be more open minded than I was throughout middle school. The start of my freshman year, I started contemplating on what career path I would pursue after graduation. On the first day of school I was assigned to an agricultural class due to the fact that other elective classes were filled. I didn’t want to be in that class but I’m glad I stuck to it because it was a wonderful experiment. We got the chance to travel to the Raleigh state fair to visit the petting zoo and see the animal competition. At the end of the course we took an exam for our “Green hand Degree”. I was one of the few students to pass and as an award, the teacher allowed students to leave a green handprint on the wall. I was a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). The class had taught me the effort it took into caring for animals and the hardships of a farmer.
My sophomore year, I decided to sign up for the Air Force Junior Reserved Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC). I never imagined myself signing up for this particular class seeing that it didn’t quite suit my liking. Throughout the course we had numerous of training to march, physical training, and community service. In military terms, as a flight (class), for community service we participated in Adopt a Highway. We were divided into groups and assigned to an area to

I finally decided to join beta club considering it was my last year in high school. I signed up for almost all of the committees offered. The first committee was a fundraiser, selling plates of barbecue for the Sports for All activity. Most of the programs that Beta Club offers goes towards activities for exceptional children. I gained 3-4 hours of community service and plan to acquire more. I am also an AVID tutor for the junior class of West Montgomery High

A glimpse at my exquisite grades that I have kept in four years of challenging classes reveals not only my effort, but my endless determination as well. Despite all of the energy that I directed towards my own success at school, I was always willing to help others who struggled in their classes, especially in math and science. Also, I put time and effort into my extracurricular activities in order to benefit my school’s community. I painted a mural of the Mt. Hope Bridge to beautify a conference room, helped plan countless events for the entire student body, from spirit weeks to…

I am not a journalist; I am a screenwriter, but like you, I have an affinity for writing because it is a fine art, like sculpting or painting. In college, I was a political science major, and I loved it because every course taught me something new and exciting about the structure of governments, the ideologies of foreign countries, or the norms and customs of any given culture. Whether I was documenting the plight of African American children in the South or the rise of the Islamic Republic in Iran, I enjoyed telling stories. I believe journalism requires first-rate storytelling ability, because if the truth is distorted so is the integrity of the journalist. Conveying emotions in an honest and creative manner is a special skill, and anybody who loves the craft of writing understands that cutting through the black and white, is what makes the relationship between author and reader so sacred.…

As the end of my high school education draws near, I wonder if I am ready for the next step. Have I learned everything I need to know to be a successful adult? Looking back, school has been my life…and a pretty good life too. For the last twelve years, it has stretched and molded my mind and laid the foundation in preparation for the rigor of college and medical school. Though my formal education is invaluable, I would have to say, some of the greatest knowledge I have acquired did not come from a classroom but from a job and the events leading up to the job.…

The Big Day As I sat there waiting for my results, surrounded by friends but feeling so alone, I pondered at all the possibilities "maybe I qualified for state or maybe I didn't" I kept thinking. I could hear the blasting of horns and the beating of drums in the distance, strangely though I was surrounded by sound and vibrations I still managed to tune it out. For some reason to me sitting in that one seat became almost my own little bubble filled with self doubt while at the same time a shred of hope. It felt like chaos and anarchy reigned in my head, hope battling doubt, until I saw a judge post results on to a wall; my bubble popped, and slowly I approached the results. Going into my junior year of high school I had only one goal; to become the best Euphonium player and prove all the people who ever doubted me wrong.…

Try and remember your high school career. For some, it may be playing on the football field, for others, it could be marching in the marching band. I, on the other hand, didn 't participate in sports or joined extracurricular activities; I was the individual that just blended in. I woke up at 5:30 am every morning, went to school like any other student and had gone home. I knew that I was capable of playing a sport, the only problem was that I didn 't have an interest in any of them.…

Throughout my high school career, I have participated in a number of activities that focused on benefiting the students and community around me. Each activity provided a unique experience that I still carry with me and learn from to this day.
