Being a MERIT scholar would give you many opportunities after high school. It would allow you many choices going to apply at a different colleges to further your career. Having that on a application for college would help you a lot with your placement. After Ii was placed in the regular classes I didn't feel as challenged. Although it didn't bother me at all having all the easy work it was the fact I knew I could do way better. I was disappointed in myself for wasting the chance of being in the honors program. I’m still disappointed in myself for not doing my best. I really can’t complain or whine about it because I put myself in this situation. Eventually it all worked out and I got my credits for foreign language and i’m doing well in my advanced classes. The lesson I learned from my situation was to try harder, push myself as much as I can, and not to rely on anyone to make any kind of decisions no matter the situation. My opportunity was lost because of my actions and carelessness, but I dealt with it and made the best out of it all. Like the quote said “Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work…” You have to constantly push yourself and make yourself do hard work in order to

I believe there is a more evident ambiance of respect in the Honors Program because, like the students, the professors are highly motivated. Additionally, the Honors students want to be in a more academically challenging environment and the professors want to teach these students who are hungry for knowledge. Furthermore, the smaller classroom settings are ideal for my learning process. With the smaller settings, there are less distractions and more individual attention which makes a difficult topic easier to comprehend. Also, I plan to take advantage of the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities since I have been accepted to the College of Engineering.…

To be quite honest with myself, I really am not sure why I’m so intrigued to apply and be part of the honors program at DePaul University. I’m an undergraduate who’s feeling so anxious but yet so terrified of being in college and not in high school. Just like any other undergraduate I want to fit in and have a lenient 4-year college experience. But that’s not enough for me because I’m extremely aware of my capacity not just as an individual but also as a student. I’m someone who enjoys the thrill of being challenged, why?…

The world is too vast to be concerned only with what goes on in your immediate circle. There is too much to learn about different ways of life, too much to experience, too much to understand. I am unconventional in my interests, aspirations, and studies; I am invigorated by nearly every academic subject, by world cultures, by sports, by religions, by the arts. I have used the first seventeen years of my life in an attempt to satiate my world curiosity, from its fundamental laws to the rudimentary values prevalent in even the most untouched cultures. Socially, I have friends in all the conventional high school cliques, whether it be the jocks, the nerds, the popular kids, the “bad-boys”, the performers, you name it, I have friends within it.…

With that said, I will most likely be prepared, and financially obligated to enter the workforce. The prior experience and assistance from the Honors college, through the Praxis Labs and living and learning communities, will allow me to make connections with people and my field, so I am able to capitalize on my…
