My life plan after college was to be an engineer for less than ten years and then become a teacher.I have always felt like I would be much happier working with children and teenagers than spending weeks on a rig.I could not see myself ever wanting to go back to the petroleum industry after I leave it for whatever reason.Over my years at LSU, it has been made clear that I definitely do not have a passion for petroleum engineering. However, I got a job coaching children at LSU Gymnastics and I realized that I really do love working with kids. So, if I do get laid off, I would try to become a math teacher at my old high school and become a part time gymnastics coach at my old gym. This is true for mostly everyone. I would take time out of my day to learn it whether online, in a book, or talking to someone who is knowledgeable on the subject. If I am genuinely interested in learning something, it would not even feel like I am learning. If I am not interested in what I am learning, but know that I need to learn the material, I normally make a schedule to learn it.For example, I might assign an hour or two a day to reading a chapter or so of the material. I would devote multiple sections a week to studying the subject just to make it seem like I am not trying to get it all at once and make it seem easier. At the end of the week every week, I would make a review session for myself to go over the more important parts of what I learned to make sure that I understand the material. If I find that I struggle with something I try to go over it multiple times until I do understand it. Working with other people or students that are studying the subject helps, too. It always feels better when you can have a meaningful conversation with someone else about the material to make sure that you do understand
