First I took a closer look at my current proposed degree physics. I knew, I wanted a degree that would enable me to create new items; that would better the life of mankind worldwide. After researching the physics degree in more depth I came to the conclusion that I might end up doing research for the better part of my career; with no immediate application. This wasn’t going to work, I desired to make physical products; that I could cherish, and watch improve humanity; in my own lifetime. I was suddenly very turned on to the idea of engineering, but I didn’t want to give up on learning the fruits of physics. I began looking at the chemistry, and chemical engineer major. Chemistry seemed to lead towards research also, so I leaned towards the chemical engineering discipline. During my research of the chemical engineering degree; to my delight; I found that the discipline is actually about fifty percent physics which I already loved, and fifty percent chemistry my new found passion. I then decided to take chemistry two even though it wasn’t a requirement for physics majors. Once completed I knew that chemistry was the path that I wanted to embark on, still addicted to the idea that it is the essence of science. It was then that I chose to be a chemical engineering major. With my mind set on the new degree; I began taking all the basic chemistry courses required of
