College Admissions Essay: A Career As A Leader

Today, our modern world seems to value leaders more than well-rounded students. And this makes sense- our future CEO’s and entrepreneurs all have to be leaders, in order to inspire growth and innovation in their colleagues or fellow students. I believe that there is nothing more important than being the spark that ignites others’ inspiration, to later guide and motivate them to pursue their passions and common goals. In that sense, I am a leader- not because I give orders, but because I start movements that pull others into the current, where they collaborate and reach targets that they previously thought were impossible. In the summer of 2016, my little sister and I were horseback riding when she fell off the saddle and landed on a nearby fence. She suffered a few scratches, but because of previous incidents, she decided that this was the last straw- she was officially giving up on her favorite hobby. To me, nothing could be more unacceptable. A lot of encouragement and speeches about ‘taking control of your life’ later, she was back in the saddle and excited about the stables. You can be a leader for yourself, and you could be a leader to many people. My driving force and inspiration is my father, who often tells me that I am responsible for the end-to-end process of any project I choose to pursue. He teaches me not only to “never give up,” but to let go of things gracefully and with purpose. From him, I also learned how to manage and work with people, and how to reach them on a different level. As long as the goal is accomplished, and accomplished well, the process can be up to the individual. In his business job, he often has to take control of his team- and in doing so, he gains knowledge of what people respond to, passing that information to me and encouraging me to use
