From the moment I walked into Google headquarters in New York City last June, I felt like I belonged to something so amazing. All of the employees welcomed me with open arms as I entered a room that felt like the home of technology. Each person in that building had something very unique about themselves however they all shared a common passion which is engineering and technology. Hearing about each of the jobs they offered at Google made me want to learn more about the field of computer engineering. They say that you have to be the best of the best to work at Google and I was willing to do anything to get there. I left Google with one piece of advice from my tour guide that day, which was “start your experiences early”, and that is just what …show more content…

Many people ask me why engineering I tell them that not only was I passionate about mathematics and science at a young age but I was also inspired by my father. Every year my father would take me to Take your child to work day where I would spend the whole day at his office surrounded by all types of devices. Last summer I came across an email from a program called The Samsung Mobility App Academy designed for high school students interested in engineering and technology. I decided to put in an application because I had an interest in technology and I wanted to see if I would consider computer engineering as my career in the near future. In just three weeks I received a letter in the mail stating that I was accepted among 30 students to attend the program that summer. At that moment I felt so privileged to be accepted out of the thousands of high school students in New York and New Jersey. Little did I know that this experience will allow me to learn more about technology than I ever had. The program took place in the city and lasted three days. In that short amount of time I was able to learn so much about the field I had been so fascinated about since I was little. The main focus of the program was to learn how to make a mobile application. This was my favorite part because I was able to learn more about how mobile applications actually work. There are so many different steps when it comes to creating an app which makes it hard for one person to do it alone. Throughout the three days I worked in a group four to create a postcard application. These four days allowed me time to network with a group of people who were also considering pursuing engineering as a career

Last summer, I interned at the educational robotics startup Wonder Workshop. My main project was to create an entertaining new iOS app that kids could use to drive the company’s robot, Dash. The app I created uses Dash’s onboard sounds, lights, array of sensors, and movements to provide an engaging and exhilarating driving experience. YouTube videos spanning advice on icon design to in-app purchase optimization were an invaluable resource for completing the app. As the sole developer of Wonder Rush, I was in charge of everything from programming to marketing.…

I hear a buzz… It is just distant at first, but slowly it seems to be coming closer and closer. I open an eye simply to realize it is my clock alarm. My brain realizes that being 5 a.m. I must get up, but my body defies me; it does not want to move. Then, a vision crosses my mind; I see myself walking down an airplane runway; there is a plane parked in the distance, and the wind is gushing at me.…

At this point in my educational path, I would like to achieve certification to work in an area that I have been drawn to since I was in high school. I feel that my past experiences, my education to this point and my love for education will benefit those whose lives I am able to touch by pursuing teacher certification.
