Growing up in an Asian family has its flaws. At a younger age, I struggled to fit into society. High expectations for academics with acceptance into colleges in my parents’ eyes was the only pathway to success. Upon discovering the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the tenth grade, all questions for my future were answered as if I was taking the test of life and the teacher accidentally handed me an answer key with thorough explanations. I knew right there and then it was my first choice school, so without hesitation, I am applying under the Early Decision …show more content…
Born to Taiwanese immigrants, I have always aspired to become an international businessman focusing on Mandarin Chinese, especially with China becoming an up and coming global economic force. Being born and raised in the United States, I have become somewhat detached with my Asian identity. The one university policy would allow me to take classes regarding international relations and studies from the Colleges of Arts and Sciences for me to explore my intellectual interest to rediscover my internally lost Asian counterpart. Maybe when studying at the Wharton School, I will become interested in how politics affect business economics. I would have the freedom to take courses regarding political science at the College of Arts and Sciences to provide a stronger foundation for concepts learned while studying at Wharton. This policy would become a catalyst for me to mold myself into a well-rounded candidate for better preparation before heading into my future

My parents always encourage me to work for my dreams and desires and always tell me I can accomplish anything I set my mind to even when I do not believe it. When I applied for my undergraduate years I naively went into the process believing my grades…
