Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Scholarship Essay Throughout my high school years, I wanted to change others more than they change me. There has always been this "guilty mind" behind my ears that if I had a way to help others with my abilities then I would do so. However, the knowledge that I am currently equipped with is very low and limited to what I can do. The choice of secondary education is the next level of commitment to reshape my community. Although our problem is about colleges, we don’t want students to be confused on what to do in life after college. We would get freshmen and sophomores focused on careers so as juniors they can find a college to match their career. Students would use the information we give them to fill out a worksheet for both careers and colleges to save for later use. We recognized that some students may not be interested in doing this so we decided to schedule an assembly in February where current seniors and former alumni give their experiences, stories, and regrets while preparing and applying to college. We are hoping that this will encourage students to do the worksheets and dedicate more time to preparing for…

Personal Statement Almost everyone had a rod in hand as they walked through the main street headed for the pier or docks to try and reel in a tasty morsel for dinner. In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. Little did I know that in several years, I would be on a plane bound for the United States, uncertain about my future but resolve in my dreams.…

My future plans of becoming a speech pathologist can be accredited to my summer trips to inner city Baltimore, Maryland as a mentor and counselor for the Agape House Ministries. Through my encounters with a diverse group of children and an environment that was entirely new to me, I realized that I am passionate about not only these children, but children in general. In my lifetime, I want to impact as many children as possible, particularly by helping them work through speech and cognitive issues as a speech-language pathologist. However, in order to eventually reach this goal, I will first need a college education. Education not only qualifies a person to work in the field of their choice, but it also allows them to see different points of view, and ultimately decide which way of thinking that they will adopt as their own.…
