Research work is not easy to begin with but turning it into a collaboration is even harder. Otherwise there would be no lessons learned and no intellectual growth. While I never met my group partners, Tameka Jones and Jarrett Hoy, in person I had the chance to learn about them and how they function as students. Three reflective aspects of our computer project involves an in-depth look at our project, my personal evaluation, and last an analytical look into not just the project but myself as a learner.

Body Our assignment, based on researching computer systems for a faux company became a quickly developing task. Expressed in the assignment outline was requirements to abide by and then from there we each chose a company. Jarrett chose Apple,

Meeting new people and getting to know them no matter how complicated is always a rewarding experience. Putting aside personal perspectives and learning from another person helps to grow not just as a learner but as a person as well. I believe that this is vital to developmental progress. One rewarding aspect was seeing how we engaged with each other. While the beginning of the week lacked much discussion as deliberated above, the end of the week was rife with communication even if it was not always to my preference. A sneak peek into the lives of Tameka and Jarrett was tantalizing for me as a person because I enjoy to know and understand other cultures and subcultures. An example would be learning about Tameka’s role as a mother, and Jarrett’s determined outlook. However, not everything was as rewarding. Many times Tameka asked for the link to the group project either via the discussion board or email. Sometimes Jarrett would check in at the beginning of the week and then check out again until Sunday. These actions are easily overlooked as initial frustrations that do not last long. However, the biggest downfall that truly upset me and tainted my experience occurred at the end of the project. Being the weekend before Thanksgiving I anticipated the days as busy for everyone and therefore even more important to check in and communicate with your group members. …show more content…
This is exceptionally true with the last leg of the project, the power point, and the irritation it spurred. I personally could have engaged my group mates earlier than Sunday to make sure that the assignment was complete instead of waiting until the last minute. Due to it being the weekend before a Holiday, personal obligations held me back and I slacked on my group assignment communications even though in the end I felt confident in my work. I believe with this newfound experience I can learn from my own actions and flaws and those of others to better prepare for a future project. Any situation approached diplomatically may overcome obstacles allowing everything to work out in the end. I personally found The Business Writers Handbook vital to all the assignments, especially when it came down to formatting Word and Power Point. This book really broke things down and allowed me to learn how to better present myself not just as a student but as a

Although it is expected that this retreat is only for Latinos since it is hosted by the CLAC, anyone from any race can go because although the retreat is Latino-oriented it is not Latino exclusive. The group project with my fellow group members Avery Ezell, DaShawn Gilliam and Ayaka Matsunaga was a success. Our topic focused on mentoring where we decided to partner with the Wicomico Mentoring Project in Salisbury, Maryland. The project provides “adult role models who volunteer to work with students to improve their grades, attendance and behaviors” (Wicomico County Public Schools). The coordinator Mark Thompson was more than glad to become our mentor to help our group make an impact on his organization. In addition, Professor Melany Trenary was a part of the project where she became another mentor.…

I have a question about our HW #4 corrections. I was planning on turning in my three and four corrections today but somehow my 4 corrections (and my whole graded assignment 4) went missing. I know that I got 3.92 completely wrong. You only gave me one point. I received a 15/20 total.…

The group project felt important to me, because it gave me a chance to present a topic that was meaningful to me. The topic of my group’s project was anti-racism in protest songs, and showing how many artists took to the stage with their thoughts of equality, attempting to change the way that some people are perceived in this nation. Preparing this project didn’t go without stress or challenges though. My group partners, despite my persistent nagging, procrastinated until the last minute to get any work done, and even though there were five of us in my group, only two people did any significant work on the presentation. As the deadline for the presentation was growing closer, I knew that it was time to act.…

Reflection Memo of Assignment 1 As I was revising my essay of Assignment 1, I started reviewing the whole process of how I constructed, wrote and revised. I really enjoy the process of deeply unearthing the great memories during my process of English learning, which was unforgettable. It is hard for me to forget how my first English teacher taught me: she was harsher than any teacher I met, but what she taught was invaluable. To be honest, the process of producing such an essay was arduous: as a non-native English writer, it was hard to select accurate words while describing the learning process.…

For my final portfolio, I chose to revise a shorter essay, “Potential Ramifications of a Trump Presidency,” and a longer essay, “Assignment 7: Finding Place Research Project.” I chose these two essays specifically because of their differences. The former is shorter, more informal, and includes more of my thoughts and opinions. The latter is a longer research paper, and thus is more formal and less biased as I attempted to give a brief history of gentrification and its impacts on East Liberty.…

Socially group work is often praised. With phrases like “two heads are better than one”, team work seems like the most logical choice for a project. This has not been my experience at Florida State University. When faced with the prospect of another involuntary group project I imagined many possibilities and outcomes. None of which reflect my actual experience with the research I conducted, the way the information was formatted, or my experience with Group 3.…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

Collaboration can be extremely fruitful when the environment is flexible, open-minded, constructive, and the team has clear goals. Working on a team involved identifying roles for each member based upon our strengths. Early on in the capstone class, my group attempted to fit each member into arbitrary, rotating roles in order to complete our requirements. The first semester revealed conflicts of work methods and styles. Our communication was poor and workload uneven.…

The team members were friendly that we became friends that were able to help each other even in other subjects. Every member was always ready to assist whenever one of us was facing some difficulties concerning the project. The fact that we all showed equal commitment to our objective, trusted each other and remained united even when we disagreed, gave me a sense of belonging, and I was motivated to work together. Throughout the project, there were several lessons that I learned one being that teamwork is not an easy job.…

The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…

Purpose and Planning As discussed in this week’s reading, facilitation skills are integral to a successful social work group, and these skills are to be developed in the group sessions that are taking place throughout this course. The group sessions which will be occurring throughout the semester, are incredibly beneficial to future social workers. As we develop the ability to apply what we are learning in our textbook, to real life. Discussing group dynamics, and actively participating in a group allows for a comprehensive understanding of the theory behind group facilitation, as well as the applicability of certain facilitation skills.…

Introduction In this reflection, I will focus on some important topics such as, what I learned about individual and business taxation from this course, what was my experience with the group project and what were the challenges that I faced during both the group project and this course. I am also going to add some main overall points that I learned. Tax is generally an amount of money that is charged by a government on a product, income, or activity so that it can pay for public services. In addition, there are several very common types of taxes: • Income Tax (a percentage of individual or corporate earnings filed to the government) • Sales Tax (taxes charged on certain goods and services) • Property Tax (taxes charged on the value of land…
