A community of practice embodies the essence of the IDTMS program and instructional design. It is imperative we participate in interactive communities, and collaborate with one another in an effort to remain relevant as IDT professionals. These communities allow people to learn from each other’s successes and missteps. In Creating Conditions for Promising Collaboration, Kaats states, “Business and academic communities are creating new organizational models that encompass cooperation -oriented organizations.” (p.32) Our jobs are no longer individualistic, but they require the sum of many parts to produce exemplary products and services. These can only be produced through effective collaborative practices.
