The ideas included topics of research, recommendations and designation of topics. For example, culture, religion, business etiquettes and meeting negotiations are some topics we all agree to do research. One great idea was assigned topics that relates to each individual’s major or minor. Lam, one of our international teammates, was assigned economics because he is an economic major at Amsterdam in Netherlands. Thus, we all decided to do business in Egypt of Africa. Although, in cross-cultural communication, it is difficult to communicate due to the seven-hour time difference, things tend to work well in both my team. What went well in my team are the meeting times, which we all agree, on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 am till 11 am before the start time for our principle of management class. In addition, communication and sharing information via email worked well in my group. Before we move on to a different business, a general consensus should be available. I learned that decisions are often consensus-driven in communication and business in Netherlands as well as in the United States. This is one reason why we shared what we find with everyone via email or Facebook before moving on to a new task, and sometimes ask for feedback. I would still be receptive, but I would not be the team leader. Being the team leader, there are many responsibilities such as meeting deadlines, setting time meetings as well as objectives and goals for the team. I am not saying that my team is not helpful, in fact they are the best classmates I ever work with in my two years of college, somehow I am overwhelmed. In fact, I work two-part time jobs, enrolled in five classes and involved on campus with two clubs of my choice. Hence, I have a busy schedule and cannot overcommit or otherwise I will have huge acne and bumps on my face. Anyway, I created the presentation with all the information I collected from my teammates. Next time, I would prefer to be a supporting team member, and not delegate work to my classmates. However, being the leader, I have become better at communicating, been on top of my tasks despite the fact that I have assignments from my four other courses.
