The project allows students to be leaders outside of class, which they utilize their aptitudes to manage teamwork, workflow and communication. Teamwork, in fact, is significant in today’s world. The project also allows students to learn to be persistence when communicating with a virtual team in another part of the world, especially the difficulty of time difference. The ideas included topics of research, recommendations and designation of topics. For example, culture, religion, business etiquettes and meeting negotiations are some topics we all agree to do research. One great idea was assigned topics that relates to each individual’s major or minor. Lam, one of our international teammates, was assigned economics because he is an economic major at Amsterdam in Netherlands. Thus, we all decided to do business in Egypt of Africa. Although, in cross-cultural communication, it is difficult to communicate due to the seven-hour time difference, things tend to work well in both my team. What went well in my team are the meeting times, which we all agree, on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 am till 11 am before the start time for our principle of management class. In addition, communication and sharing information via email worked well in my group. Before we move on to a different business, a general consensus should be available. I learned that decisions are often consensus-driven in communication and business in Netherlands as well as in the United States. This is one reason why we shared what we find with everyone via email or Facebook before moving on to a new task, and sometimes ask for feedback. In contrast, one thing I learned about Egyptians is that they are tough negotiators. They do not like confrontation and hate saying “no”. If they do not …show more content…
I would still be receptive, but I would not be the team leader. Being the team leader, there are many responsibilities such as meeting deadlines, setting time meetings as well as objectives and goals for the team. I am not saying that my team is not helpful, in fact they are the best classmates I ever work with in my two years of college, somehow I am overwhelmed. In fact, I work two-part time jobs, enrolled in five classes and involved on campus with two clubs of my choice. Hence, I have a busy schedule and cannot overcommit or otherwise I will have huge acne and bumps on my face. Anyway, I created the presentation with all the information I collected from my teammates. Next time, I would prefer to be a supporting team member, and not delegate work to my classmates. However, being the leader, I have become better at communicating, been on top of my tasks despite the fact that I have assignments from my four other courses. Moreover, I have become better at organizing and meeting deadlines, which is skill I need as an

The main challenge of this group situation is that there was a sudden rise of conflict among members at the beginning to mid phase of the project. This resulted the possible development of groupthink (Janis, 2008). The acute care environment can be so hectic that looking past a patient’s discharge instructions can easily be over looked. An emergency room nurse regardless of her or his acute care mindset still knows how to apply the nursing process to any plan of care at hand and it is no different to a plan of continuous care in a patient’s home. The key is sending home a plan formulated in conjunction with the input of the same medical professionals and support staff that took care of the patient in the first place. Nurses are no longer moving towards a care process of just following orders, yet as partners…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…
