For the successful implementation of the plan, school structures such as circular 6 options and afterschool Monday and Tuesday Professional Development time will be utilized. The teachers will require professional development on how to differentiate their lessons as well as how to target struggling students through small group instruction. Therefore, on Mondays, PD will be devoted to such. Additionally, common planning time will be devoted to teachers meeting within their grade and content teams to create common assessments. Through careful teacher programming/scheduling, teachers will have schedules that reflect the common planning time needed to create their common assessments, as well as time to engage in the collaborative inquiry cycle …show more content…
Thus, utilizing common assessments to collect ongoing data is vital. Tracking student progress towards the ELA standards and skills will allow teachers to track their own progress in terms of whether their instructional practices are effective in getting students on target to pass the state exam. To monitor the plan, each department will engage in ongoing cycles of data inquiry. At Success Middle School, teachers are urged to work together for the higher purpose of school improvement and therefore engage in cycles of collaborative inquiry. Analyzing the data from the common assessments will lead to new findings and help teachers understand their next steps instructionally. Then, teachers will be able to modify assessments and teaching when necessary to ensure that the goals towards the instructional goal are being met. This modification of lesson plans, unit plans and assessments will also be done with the use of technology. Teachers will use technology to access our school-based curriculum site: ATLAS Rubicon. There they will upload curriculum, share it with colleagues and revise
