Collaborative Inquiry Cycle

For the successful implementation of the plan, school structures such as circular 6 options and afterschool Monday and Tuesday Professional Development time will be utilized. The teachers will require professional development on how to differentiate their lessons as well as how to target struggling students through small group instruction. Thus, utilizing common assessments to collect ongoing data is vital. Tracking student progress towards the ELA standards and skills will allow teachers to track their own progress in terms of whether their instructional practices are effective in getting students on target to pass the state exam. To monitor the plan, each department will engage in ongoing cycles of data inquiry. At Success Middle School, teachers are urged to work together for the higher purpose of school improvement and therefore engage in cycles of collaborative inquiry. Analyzing the data from the common assessments will lead to new findings and help teachers understand their next steps instructionally. Then, teachers will be able to modify assessments and teaching when necessary to ensure that the goals towards the instructional goal are being met.
