Collaboration is more than an activity. It is a process with associated behaviors that can be taught and developed—a process governed by a set of norms that maximize individual contribution while leveraging the collective intellect of everyone involved. Collaboration is working toward a common goal or shared vision. The work is both individual and collective. Individuals want to be part of their organization; they want to know the organization’s purpose; they want to make a difference (Fullan, 2011). Fullan (2011) described the importance of building a collaborative culture with key elements as the building blocks.
