“In Analysis: Colin Wilson Quote”
“The average man is a conformist, accepting miseries and disasters with the stoicism of a cow standing in the rain.” That was a quote by Colin Wilson. Wilson wrote on philosophy, sociology, music, literature, and the occult. Colin Wilson left school once he turned sixteen and never went to college. The word conformist in simpler words is a follower. It is a proven fact that people who lead are happier than when they follow. The end of the quote says, “. . . stoicism of a cow standing in the rain.” Stoicism is the endurance of pain without showing the pain. Just like that cow standing in the rain I followed instead of leading because I wanted everybody to like me. Eventually I realized that I needed to be a leader. By being a leader I would be myself and the people that liked me that way are the only people that matter. Break out of the group and be your own person. Don’t be a conformist be yourself and lead other

Leopard Man In his article, “The Sociology of Leopard Man,” Logan Feys believes that people that do not conform to society are freaks. Feys supports his belief through the use of pathos. Feys purpose is to satirize people who do not conform, in order to convince the audience that non-conformist are “freaks,” Fey uses pessimism with his intended audience. While I generally agree with Logan Fey’s statement about individuality, I found some of his positions to be quite extreme.…

The average man is a conformist, accepting miseries and disasters with the stoicism of a cow standing in the rain, were all written by an amazing author who is commonly known for her radical philosophy and conceptions. This well-known author is Ayn Rand, an objectivist, or one who believes in concepts such as self-reliance or importance of the individual before the group. Rand essentially founded the objectivist movement by portraying characters within her fictional work in such a way that her philosophy is upheld and revealed through their actions. This is very common among her books as she generally writes with the intent of a veay simple plotline and characters to not overshadow her philosophy. There have been many critics of Ayn Rand’s…
