Colin Wilson Analysis

I think you could interpret what Colin Wilson said many different ways. In our society today it is almost survival of the fittest. We worry about ourselves and don’t give a second thought about anyone else. This goes from small acts to larger things. When was the last time you saw someone drop their books in school and someone knelt down and helped pick up their stuff? These small acts have almost disappeared. We always see these things on the new of someone helping a homeless man or rescuing a cat out of a tree and the news makes these people out to be heroes. Like they could be a part of the Avengers. I think that what Colin Wilson is saying is these small acts simple don’t exists; for two reasons, one its “uncool” or weird to do these things for people and two we hear about all these kidnappings and rapings and think that’s all people are going to do if they ask if they can help. The best example I can give of this is in a big city. People are raped and mugged every day and no one says anything or does anything. We don’t have to worry about this in …show more content…
Okay not really but figuratively. We see these things on the news of a house burning down killing a whole family or someone killing a family and killing themselves and we do nothing. Okay we say “How sad…” Then when we hear of someone beating a dog or something to do with animals people are in an uproar. Going on strikes and freaking out. I love animals just as much as the next person but really…. There are people kidnapping and selling women for sex slaves and we just let this happen. Do we really care more about animals than human beings? We test experiments on animals for crying out loud! But heaven forbid we do anything to help those poor kids and women being kidnapped and

The first of many erroneous mistakes made by Wilson in his attempts to have the Treaty of Versailles ratified by Congress, he blatantly refused the involvement of any Republican representative in his delegation for the Paris Peace talks. He decision to do so put him at great odds with most Republicans, no more so than in the case of Senator Henry Cabot Lodge. An esteemed member of Congress, Lodge, the scholar of Washington prior to the arrival of Wilson, was overqualified for a spot in the Paris delegation with his service as chairman of the Senate’s Committee on Foreign Relations during the war. Another promising candidate for the delegation was former president Howard Taft, a long-time supporter of a League of Nation, whose presence would…

Now obviously it is not feasible to take those two statistics into consideration when talking about the feelings of animals. But philosopher Peter Singer is right to claim that human suffering and animal suffering should be given equal consideration. Australian philosopher, Peter Singer, starts off his argument by comparing the ethics behind women’s rights to that of animal rights.…

“In short, heroism means doing the right thing, regardless of the consequences”- (Unknown Author.) A hero is a figure that someone looks up to; today people look up to the celebrities of the world. However, is this actually who society should be looking up to? Celebrities, like Kim Kardashian, don’t particularly give a decent example of how people should act. When she publicly says and means things like, “I hate when woman wear the wrong foundation colour, it might be the worst thing on the planet” it should make society question their fascination with such superficiality.…
