Colin Powell lives by the following quote, “What I really wanted was to do the best I could every single day. By doing my best everyday, day after day, year after year, I finally got to the top.” By using his own philosophy he could rise through the ranks of the military establishment. He is well known for being a four star general in the United States Army, he is serves his country and people around the world recognize him for that. All of his choices have shaped and formed his life to what it is today.

Not only did his choices make him stand out, but so did his hard-work, determination, and his perseverance. As a young child he was taught to do one’s best and work hard. As a result of being determined he has achieved so much in his life.
