Kaepernick's emotions shown in Powell's article,are much needed in order for his protest to be patriotic. The inclusion of emotions shows that Kaepernick is truly involved in this protest and that it is coming from a place of deep devoted love for America and especially the citizens. A love for the country and its citizens is what truly makes a protest or person patriotic. Unlike Powell and Zirin Sally Jenkins does not discuss the emotions and willingness to die, but speaks of the actions within the protest. Within Jenkins Washington Post article titled “There are two sides to the NFL anthem debate, and both are right. And wrong.”, When speaking of Kaepernick's protest Jenkins states, “The only Un-American thing would be if people were afraid to express how they feel on either side of the argument”. While Kaepernick's protest getting so much publicity many may look at that and say that the publicity gained is amazing for Kaepernick's cause.While on the contrary, it has weakened both Kaepernick’s message and his impact. When examining President Trumps speech in Huntsville, Alabama there are many shared opinions, but the is a group targeted towards Kaepernick and his protest. Trump tells Americans that Kaepernick’s protest is used to disrespect the flag and viewer should turn off the TV and leave the stadium.
