Colin Kaepernick's Unpatriotic Act

Was Colin Kaepernick right to kneel down when the National Anthem played? Do you think he was being unpatriotic? At the beginning of the 2016/2017 NFL season Colin Kaepernick chose to sit down when the National Anthem played. This action was very controversial. Some people felt that his action was appropriate. Well others thought Kaepernick’s action was inappropriate. So is Kaepernick's act of taking a knee during the National Anthem an unpatriotic act? Some people would agree it was unpatriotic, but in my opinion it wasn't, he was nonviolent protesting for police brutality, oppresses over colored people, and racial justice. “When he knelt on September 1, he was joined by a teammate. Since then, other players have begun kneeling during the anthem.” This means that people are starting to agree with him. Additionally, in the article (Junior Scholastic, pg.7) it noted that other people are starting to join him too. I mean why wouldn't you join him, it wouldn't hurt you because it is for a good cost, that can make a difference in America. He also noted that Kaepernick was “exercising his constitutional right to make a statement.” The article also stated that Obama was praising him for what he did, this has to mean something. Also this is legit issues that have to be talked about and solved because this is serious, and would help better America. America is a free country,that lets you make statements, and have freedom of speech, so way not use it for something good, like Kaepernick
