It is mournful to see the disrespect for our veterans. They defend the great country of the United States of America and yet in return they get one knee on the ground during the anthem of the country they protect. It is uncalled for. It being athletes who take the time to kneel while the national anthem is being played. The selfishness these players show reflects on themselves and their team. This protest all started over a year ago. September 26th, 2016 when the San Francisco 49ers played the Green Bay Packers at Levi Stadium in California for a regular season football game when one of the 49er’s players did something that shocked the nation viraly. There are bodies on the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder. I have to help these people. I have to help these communities. It’s not right that they’re not put in a position to succeed or given those opportunities to succeed.” This quote from Kaepernick is ironic because I’m pretty sure he just called out the nation for oppressing people of color when that's not necessarily true just everybody sees the world in a different way. The NFL called Kaepernick's actions “distracting” and “embarrassing” which are definitely understatements. Although, I do have to add, as for me, a citizen of the United States of America and the granddaughter of a veteran can also agree of the words spoken on behalf of the NFL. Now is the time where we try and find a solution to this problem. Making a deal with the NFL and cutting the athletes pay for every time they kneel seems too nice of us, although everyone knows how much those athletes adore their money. We could pull from the source of the money and drop all sponsorships these players have if they kneel during the anthem. For example Kaepernick had Coca-Cola and Beats by Dr. Dre on his side, but after his actions they dropped out so …show more content…
They would save money because if they full on kick a player out of the league they can use that money on something more impacting like for example, Super Bowls. They get expensive when you have to reserve the venue, buy merchandise, pay their employees who will be running it, paying the halftime performers and getting enough food for all the people attending. Yes, companies that buy commercials pay loads of money for a thirty second ad which does help, but having a little extra million wouldn't hurt.
Secondly, if sponsors are pulled from the players that kneel, they would also save money rather than spending it on selfish players that don’t need it. Viewers watch their so called role model athletes on TV and if they see them acting disrespectfully then it reflects on the sponsor as well as the team and player. The product might be super great and all but who wants to invest in a product that has a misbehaved athletes face all over it.
Thirdly, if we unsigned them from the NFL as a whole then both associations would save money and would be a win win for all except the player who decided to show
