It can be hard for me, a sixteen year-old white girl who goes to private school in Georgetown, to fully comprehend the severity of racial oppression and police brutality, considering it’s not something that I really have to fear. However, I am not oblivious to the current issues going on in America. Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, has recently been protesting the injustices taking place against black people and people of color by kneeling during the national anthem that takes place before every football game.
