Colin Kaepernick's Definition Of Freedom In The United States

Decent Essays
Freedom is a concept that allows people to have the right to perform anything they wish with no restraints, unless if it is against the law, or against the community’s beliefs and ethics. Limitless boundaries may seem like the ideal freedom where people are free doing anything. But I believe limitless freedom instead restricts your overall freedom, because with unlimited freedom, nobody will risk anything, which restricts the amount of actions they choose to perform. Colin Kaepernick was a former NFL player who made the decision to kneel during America’s national anthem before his game to protest flaws in the US. Accordingly, Kaepernick was shunned by the public and he also lost his job. Then, just a few weeks later, a great deal of other NFL teams also took a knee during the national anthem to protest against the US. These players were also shunned by the public and the president, but they did not result in losing their jobs. These actions demonstrate that even though kneeling during the national anthem is not illegal, it is still disapproved by the public, and opposing these taboos results in being shunned. …show more content…

The national anthem is something we sing or show our pride to in direct correlation to the united states. I do not believe it has anything to do with racism, yet Kaepernick and others on sports teams across America do. I do not support Kaepernicks actions because I think hews on an American team and in America so he should support the United States not turn his back to it. I honestly think it is absurd that he even gets to stay on the team when he is disrupting and causing a negative attention to the team, I think these players and people who think America is so horrible should just be on their way somewhere else. All in all, I think Americans should support America.…

Well others thought Kaepernick’s action was inappropriate. So is Kaepernick's act of taking a knee during the National Anthem an unpatriotic act? Some people would agree it was unpatriotic, but in my opinion it wasn't, he was nonviolent protesting for police brutality, oppresses over colored people, and racial justice. “When he knelt on September 1, he was joined by a teammate. Since then, other players have begun kneeling during the anthem.”…

It has never been about Trump, it is not a job, neither a law for an American citizen to do anything but it is a written right for people to protest. What it is really about, is the injustices that continue to happen in America. Respecting the flag or standing is not a law or a demand written in…

According to Irving Janes (1972), groupthink occurs when a group makes an irrational decision because of group pressure fostering and the deterioration of ‘mental efficiency, reality testing, and moral judgement” (Irving, Janis, Victims of groupthink, p.9). Social influence is the effect that people have upon the beliefs or behaviors of others (Aaronson, 2004). Both groupthink and social influence theory have a factor in what we see as an ongoing reaction to the silent protest started by Colin Kaepernick in August 2016. In recent news on October 1, 2017 during a game between the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers, about 30 of the 49ers players took a knee during the national anthem.…
