Persuasive Essay On Taking A Stand

Taking a “Stand” When you think about other protesting you probably imagine people shouting and yelling for their voice to be heard. Or you see signs with graphic words or pictures being raised above for all to see. However some protesters choose to be more peaceful and don’t say anything, but instead execute an action. This is exactly what Colin Kaepernick did before a football game during the playing of the national anthem. All he did was simply kneel. Kneeling for the national anthem has started an absolute controversy nationwide (Refusing). The first time Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the anthem was to protest the rights and police brutality against african americans in the U.S. This occurred on August 26, 2016 and since then has started debates all over the country. Other players besides Kaepernick also joined in the protest and started taking a knee as well. Some have argued that not standing for the national anthem was a good way to protest since it is protesting in a peaceful manner. They have also said since a famous athlete took part to start this debate it has gained much attention by everyone even our president Donald Trump, as it is stated in procon.org. Kneeling during the national anthem. Everyone has had their own opinion about it even the president of the United States. Some think it’s a good way of protesting however others say it’s very disrespectful to the country. Players all around the nation have either voiced their opinion about this or joined in on the protesting. This whole argument has even left athletes unsigned or threatened to be fired. So even though when you think of protesting, you think of loud and obnoxious people voicing their thoughts this peaceful protest has led just to that.
