Colin Kaepernick 'National Anthem': An Analysis

On September 1st, 2016, Colin Kaepernick decided to kneel as the National Anthem was being played during the 49’ers regular season game. In that moment, he forgot what that very song stood for. He decided to ignore the thousands of men that have died in honor of that song. Every vote that has been cast in order to keep our freedom alive was dwindled into nothingness when this man refused to stand. Each man or woman that has furthered our freedom in a courageous fight for their rights had suddenly become nothing but a piece of America’s past. Kaepernick did come forward and make a blatant claim for his rights ,but in such a manner that has offended everything that has been put into the meaning of our National Anthem. Should we stand up for our rights and fight for our freedom? Yes, in fact, many people who have made this nation great did this very thing ,but we should consider how to go about it the best way possible. We should not ignore and disrespect every man and woman who have sacrificed their life for us.

She showed the entire generation below her that no matter their color, size, or shape, they were all human and should take a stand for their rights. Equal rights is such a major part of our American foundation and I find it exponentially important to stand up for those rights. God made every person different and it should not matter whether we are black, white, tall, skinny, tan, pale, and so on. An American citizen has equal rights and should fight for them under the right parameters. Kaepernick disrespected our nation when he “stood up” for his rights. Rosa Parks uplifted an entire nation when she stood up for her rights. Look to Parks for inspiration and most importantly, look to God for guidance and
