Cole Fertilizer Company Hypothesis

Decent Essays
The experiment and the control group are different in this experiment is that the experimental group is fertilized with Growmore. The reason why there is only one experimental variable so that i can test my hypotheses. If there were more than one variable we would not know which variable is causing the change. A control is necessary because we would not know the standard comparison on our experiment. A controlled experiment provide data to test our hypotheses and solve our problem.
I learned that my hypothesis was correct. What i found interesting about this lab is that the Cole Fertilizer Company asked me to test their product. What i found difficult to understand was the key words controlled experiment and control and also what were the difference

This laboratory consisted of knowing the different effects of adding an enzyme and adding a substrate to a chemical reaction. Also by increasing or decreasing the temperature of a reaction as well as adding an inhibitor to test the enzymatic activity that would take place in the reaction. With the prior knowledge we conclude a hypothesis for this experiment. Which is the concentration for substrate will increase as well as the rate of reaction. As the temperature increases the rate of reaction increases too.…

This group stayed somewhat the same throughout the experiment. Because they were in the first tank in the normal amounts of CO2 they stayed in this water in the second tank where they could pick which water to be in. The only thing altered and weird about this control group is that in the second tank they put both the control group and the experimental group together to see what would happen. There could be many problems with this, because they could have gotten the fish mixed up and gotten wrong information for which fish went in the water with a chemical alarm and which didn’t. If they messed up any of their information, because they didn’t know which fish was in which group, then their results weren’t valid.…

In this lab we conducted an experiment on the effects that the amount of food and temperature has on the amount of fruit flies in a particular location. We had chosen many locations with these varying variables to see these effects. The locations with varying amount of food in order of least to most were Patrick’s room, Wyatt’s room, AJ’s room, my room, the McMillan basement and the school garden. All locations have similar temperatures except for the school garden which was considerably colder due to it being fall. We used cups filled with vinegar, soap, and apple slices to capture the flies and left them out for two three day intervals.…

During the investigation, the control consisted of the rabbit number population to be 150, the grass grows rate to be 15, the weed grow rate to be 0, the grass energy to be 5, the weed energy to be 0. These factors then changed the population of rabbits from 150 to 221. For the experiment, the energy levels of grass were set to 15. Besides the energy levels of grass, every other variable was kept constant. This resulted in the population of rabbits growing from 150 to 495.…

The controlled variable in a scientific experiment is the element which is constant and unchanged throughout the entire span of the observation. There are quite a few controlled variables used in the experiment. The controlled variables are water, the amount of water, Alka Seltzer, and the amount of Alka Seltzer. When conducting this experiment, I will use the same type of water and I will be using the same amount of water for each attempt.…

When testing a hypothesis, such as ‘talking on a cell phone impairs driving skills, a control condition would be important because if the experiment is not controlled many things may be different and that can skew results making it impossible to determine patterns that correlate to the experiment. You also must be able to repeat the experiment multiple times to see if the results are similar, or you would be unable attain accurate data to prove your hypothesis. Subjects should be assigned randomly for an experiment like this. Half are assigned to drive while talking on the phone, half are assigned to driving without talking on the phone. The cellphone being the independent variable and driving ability being the dependent.…

The solution that was tested was a mixture of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and zeatin and water. The sodium hydroxide was added to the solution to activate the enzyme. If everything else remains constant in the experiment, what are the determining factors? In this experiment, three different concentrations will be tested to determine which seeds can grow in an optimal environment over a course of five days, determining the ideal concentration of zeatin. Each concentration will be the levels of treatment, and the control will exclude the manipulated variables.…

This experiment could be improved through the test being repeated multiple times rather than having just nine experimental groups. The experiment could have also beeen improved by having molds that perfectly cut the size of the agar cubes perfectly, this would make the experiment more accurate across experiment groups, along with the agar cubes sitting in the mixture for ten minutes exactly, instead of the time being more or less, this is what happened in the experiment. Having three beakers instead of one would have created more accurate results by isolating the agar cubes, creating less room for…

Data Analysis The scientific question for this experiment is:” Does the amount of baking soda added to vinegar affect the amount of CO2 produced?” “If more baking soda is added to 50mL of vinegar, then more CO2 gas will be produced,” was the hypothesis. The independent variable was the different amounts of baking soda. Therefore, the dependent variable was the amount of CO2 produced.…
