The Cold War Origins began in 1947 and ending in 1991. It all started 2 years after WWII when the U.S used the containment policy against the soviets. The containment policy was issued to prevent the spread of communism, which was mostly for the Soviet Union in Eastern Europe. This helped create the NATO, which stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a defense pact. (www.historychannel.com). It was an alliance made between countries to help defend if one was being attacked by another country. The Soviets wanted to build a naval base in Turkey. The U.S feared that the domino effect would go into play so the Truman Doctrine was formed in 1947.

This is when Eisenhower said that any nation could ask for help from the U.S if they felt they were going to be attacked by communist ruling. Eisenhower also signed an armistice ending the Korean War. During the Korean War North soldiers crossed over into the South making it the first military action of the cold war.
In conclusion the Cold War was not the bloodiest or the most influential of wars but it still made an big impact on not only the U.S but in Europe also. These 3 policies made by the U.S did however affect the cold war I don’t know for the worst or the best but that’s for another
