Cognitive Therapy Vs Cbt

I have always held the belief that our thinking heavily affects our emotions. As I have learned more about psychotherapy and theoretical orientations, that belief has been strengthened and backed by research. Cognitive Behavior Therapy is the theoretical orientation that I would use for counseling. It holds a focus on our thinking but also confronts problematic behaviors. CBT is a short-term approach which combines the methods and principles of Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Therapy. It is also has produced the most empirical research than any other psychotherapy model (Corey 290). This appeals greatly to me because I plan to pursue a degree in research. For these reasons, CBT best matches my personal stance in counseling. The behavioral
