George Washington University provides an incredible city atmosphere that contains not only the core of the United States government but also a plethora of science and research institutions just blocks away. At GW I intend to major in Psychology and concentrate in Cognitive Neuroscience, a unique major that I am intrigued by because of how fascinating the brain is. I find the research requirement that GW integrates in the Psychology major to be very intriguing as it gives students a disciplined approach to engaging in research from the very beginning of their time at college. Specifically the Brain and Cognition Laboratory that is offered to undergraduate students at GW is a strong fit with my interests in the brain and its role in memory through behavioral analysis.

This cohort of the Women’s Leadership Program helps promotes women in fields that they are often less represented in and also allows students with similar passions to engage and support each other. The Science, Health, and Medicine program is remarkably integrative of leadership formation and connecting female students with professors and current women in positions that these students might someday want to attain. I would love to be apart of this cohort because of this communal bond that is fostered and the ability to receive guidance from professors and women who have made significant contributions to the scientific
