Title: Keeping Up With Cognitive Health
Description: This program is designed and targeted for middle-aged individuals (40-60 years old) with a high school education or higher living in the Southern Illinois Region. With the projected rise in cognitive-related diseases and an aging population in the United States, it has become very important to understand the mechanisms and strategies at preventing a growth in these health conditions. Diet is a major part of health and can impact brain function. Thus, preventing the onset of these diseases and cognitive impairments is important to emphasize in this target audience. The program offers informational handouts, social involvement and engaging activities to make learning fun and exciting. This program provides important information in simple, easy-to-understand terms and makes the audience involved in creating goals and changes to their lifestyle. Audience members will not only gain important nutrition knowledge, but will also feel more confident in applying the knowledge gained from this program. The program will foster healthier eating in this group in order to prevent cognitive-related health problems. Audience members will feel more adept and aware of risks of aging on cognitive health after program completion and will therefore feel more prepared to eat healthy as they continue to …show more content…
These include a Facebook page, Twitter account, and MeetUp.com. The pages will all be titled "Keeping Up With Cognitive Health" in order to ease program recognition and enhance awareness. The program will also use other marketing tools such as USPS advertisement mailing and craigslist ads. In addition, local bulletin boards on universities and stores will be used to post flyers for marketing of this program. Business cards will also be used and a website will be created with the domain name www.keepingupwithcognitivehealth.com. Contact information including web address will be included on business card and program information, sign-up and costs will be included on website. Currently, there is not a prevention, nutrition education-based program focusing specifically on cognitive health in the southern Illinois region. Thus, this program is advantageous because there is not currently a program in the area focusing on this topic. This allows more people in the local area to become exposed to the importance of cognitive health and the diet
