The Nature vs Nurture debate
One of the longest lasting arguments in Psychology has been the nature vs nurture debate. The argument that talks about what and how nature and nurture effect a child. With many phycologist stating and proving many facts, that are hard to deny, leave us in this tangled mess that keep us scratching our heads in wonder whether it is nature or nurture. And so you may be asking yourself, is it nature or is it nurture? Well we will find out through the rest of this article! But before we dig into the nitty gritty of nature vs nurture we need to understand what cognitive development is.

Nature is our Genes and hereditary factors, such as our physical appearance, we may inherent the colour of our hair from our parents or the colour of our eyes. Nature also includes our genes and can depict our personality, for example, if both your parents are lazy there is a high chance that you could inherent this gene/personality.

Nurture is how we are brought up, our surrounding cultures and social relationships. Nurture is the Environmental variables, nurture can be the school you went to or if you even went to school, some researchers are looking at peer pressure and social media effect behaviours and if that would be nurture or nature.
How Will Twin Studies Help Us? …show more content…
There are two types of twin studies, fraternal and identical. Identical twins are formed when one fertilised egg slips and develops into two babies with exactly the same genetic information, there for making them identical. Whereas, fraternal twins are developed from two different eggs, and each egg is fertilized by its own sperm cell, and they normal only share 50 percent of their genes. Although it is identical twins are studied a lot more as they moth share the same genes, making it only nurture that effects their decisions, fraternal twins are often studied to compare against identical twins. For example, if we were to look at the effects on poverty on family’s, we could use a identical pare of twins to see if nurture or being brought up in a family that struggles financially, and we could also use a pare fraternal twins to see if being born into a financially poor family is the problem.
Limitations:
Although twin’s studies are extremely helpful there are many limitations, such as the fact that we don’t have an unlimited about of twins, and even though 1/90 of the population are identical twins, a lot of parents may not be willing to let their child participate in a twin study. * write more??????????????????? *
