My child that participated in my case study is Brandon Sharma. He is in 4th grade and is 9 years old. He is developing well for his age and shows no signs for any learning disabilities. I only see him on the weekends so that may obstruct what I observe. Overall, Brandon was a good choice for my case study because he is a perfect example of how technology is good and bad for you. I will further explain other aspects of Brandon physically, cognitively, socio-emotionally, and culturally. For a 9 year old child, his height and weight are normal. He is 4 feet and 3 inches tall and weighs 58 pounds. A developmental milestone is that he started to talk at the normal age. Brandon does not have any health issues, but he does not eat balanced meals.

He started to read around the age of 4 when he started kindergarten. His language is quite developed; he knows many words for his age. I asked him to read part of my textbook, and he was able to pronounce most of the words and was fluent in reading. Even though he does not read much at home, he can read this level of reading. He might not have been unable to understand it, but he is starting to comprehend the material. As for memory, I did a simple number test. I recited him 6 numbers to memorize, and 10 minutes later, he was able to remember the numbers I told him. Starting at a young age, he knows all the types of cars which is quite impressive. The car games he plays can attribute to knowing many cars, but it also makes him think that when driving, you should go as fast as you can because he thinks it is a race. I believe that the video games he plays is a negative yet positive influence to his learning because the games are either very violent or promotes creativity. Games like Mortal Kombat are violent because he is fighting, and it makes him think that it is okay to hit people. He has games with guns and when someone else is playing, he would tell them to use a certain type of gun, and I assume this is not the right age to be knowing things like that. However, there are games like Minecraft where he builds huge castles which enhances his creative thinking. Although he has a good concrete operational stage where he can reason concrete ideas, he is not very mindful. He has yet to develop a deep understanding of things and does not seem very alert at home. All he does at home is play video games and avoid
