Cognate Strategies an Essay
Unit 3
Cognate strategies is a system in writing used to Promote understanding and helps us in our writing to make sure that it is understood by the reader. In today 's essay I am going to focus on 5 out of these nine strategies and see how we can use them in order to improve our writing.
Clarity, refers to the ability to make sure that our writing is being conveyed in a clear manner, and that the reader of our writing is able to understand what the purpose of the communication is. For example if I sent an email saying “I am going on a trip sometime next week” the reader is left with a lot of questions, for example is it a business trip? is it appropriate to call you while you are away on the trip?, and …show more content…
We have to make sure that we are conveying the important information without adding too much fluff. A great example of a concise written communication would be an email that a boss sends to his employees saying: “I will be out of the office tomorrow due to illness any questions or problems that come up while I am away please direct to Kelly from the HR department” There is a lot of information that the boss left out of the email that he could have added but would have had no relevance on the goal of the communication, and so he decided to leave it out. He didn 't write what he was sick with, and he didn 't write about how he feels, and he didn 't write about the workload that he personally expected to accomplish. He just wrote a concise effective communication. If you also notice the communication had clarity and many of the cognitive strategies that were going to review today. I utilize many different aspects of all the different strategies. I use Conciseness in my day-to-day life to make sure that I am writing clear and effective communication that are not drawn
