The five different types of roasts are American, French, Italian, European, and Viennese roast flavors. The America Roast is known as the regular roast, the beans have a flavor that is very moderate. The French Roast is known for tasting very strong, looking like chocolate brown. The reason why this roast is strong is because it comes from a heavily roasted process. The Italian Roast is used mainly for espresso drinks because of its brown-black color and strong taste. This would be another strong flavored roast. The European Roast is a blended roast that is one-third regular roast and two-thirds heavy roast. Beans raised in different regions of the world will have different flavors even if that same plant was harvested in a different region. The reason to why the same bean in a different region would taste different is because each region has there own unique soil, humidity, and other variations of production. There are many of locations for different tasting flavors, for example; In Brazil the body would be medium with a mild acidity level. The flavor would taste dry, spicy, sweet, and lingering. As in Columbia the body would be a medium/full with a medium acidity level. The flavor would be rich, sweet, and caramelly. These are just some examples to give you and idea of how a different region would have a different flavor and style. There are around another 15 more regions that have different flavors from each other. In the book Essentials of Contemporary Business, chapter four talks about trading which it is very important that these regions. They must trade beans so they can develop a new taste from a different been in their own rich soil. Also in chapter 3 they talk about supply and demand, which these regions have to think about when making a certain type of bean compared to others.
