Coevolution is a situation where two parties are able to evolve to satisfy each other’s needs. In this particular case we are going to talk about the coevolution of hummingbirds and ornithophilous flowers. Plants are one of the most important species in our world. Mainly it helps us breathe that very fresh air we have today. Although it may seem to be impossible for one to think a simple plant can help us breathe. It is also another species that helps it reproduce and spread. By doing so, it makes the work of one flower into a work of hundreds of thousands. This is why it is important to let Mother Nature take its course and see what these two species are able to do by evolving with each other. First we will talk about how they are able to adapt. Secondly how they are able to provide richness for our planet. Finally maintaining its health and to its ecosystem.
Adaption is where one or more species are able to change their ways so they can thrive in a certain way. With hummingbirds along with the ornithophilous flowers, there are several different ways these two species had to adapt in order to satisfy each …show more content…
Some may be more dramatic than others and some rely on others to survive. In order to survive means that either the species grow in mass or last a long time. For these flowers they rely on the hummingbird to pollenate in order to thrive. This is the main reason why they have to change their color to attract the hummingbirds. If not the flower will eventually die without reproducing (Spencer, 2011). The same goes for the hummingbird. If it does not adapt to the flower it will not be able to feed on the nectar the flower gives out. Thus leaving it to starve and unable to survive or reproduce other hummingbirds to pollenate. (Spencer, 2011). This is why it is so important to have these two to work and see eye to eye. If not neither of them will be able to
