As someone who wants to come into my own in a supportive environment, I do not want to be surrounded by people who do not respect me. At coeducational colleges, women have a more difficult time being respected and receiving the attention and services they need, as in the world outside of college. This may be a “realistic” way to attend college, but personally, I believe it is beneficial to attend a college that functions the way you think the rest of the world should, then go out and fight to make a change in the rest of the world. This “ideal world” is composed of classes full of women who are unafraid to answer questions, seek private time with their professors, and compete for honors and grants. In women’s colleges, you will never be passed over for a position because of your gender, since everyone is female.
