Coed Sports Research Paper

Decent Essays
Although people may disagree, I think boys and girls should not be able to play on the same team. Many sports are contact sports, like football which increases the risk of injury. There is also the possibility of a player’s self esteem taking a beating.
First and foremost coed sports could cause injury to the players. For instance football is definitely a contact sport and boys normally have more muscle and outweigh girls. If a boy hits a girl at full speed there is a chance that she could receive an injury. I was taught that you don’t hit a girl. So for me running full speed at a girl and trying to knock her to the ground goes against everything I have been taught.
In addition self esteem is very important. If a boy loses his position

One reason schools shouldn’t have competitive sports is that kids are young and can hurt themselves easily or sacrifice other opportunities. Many in the field of sports are young. 60% of boys and 47% of girls are competing on sports teams by the time they’re six years old. I believe that interscholastic athletic programs are an extension of the classroom. Although academics come first in the secondary school system, the lessons that can be taught and learned from athletics cannot be duplicated anywhere else in the school environment. Sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance are just a few of the multitude of life lessons that can be learned through involvement in high school athletics. My expectations for our programs are lofty, not necessarily in term of wins and losses but in terms of building programs, being passionate about our sports and in doing things the right way, all the time. The wins and losses will take care of themselves.…

For a long time high schools have had sports teams and art programs and they started out with equal funding but over the years sports teams started receiving more funding while the arts clubs received less. Why do they give more funding to the sports teams, it might be that if you walk into a classroom there will likely be a lot of students talking about sports or athletes and only a few who are talking about a musical or art festival so, the school board might think that only a few students like the arts programs and everyone else like sports but, that's not true. There is a lot of pressure for boys to join the sports team because their father of brother want them to be just like them, so most boys will join the team and not actively participate so they are just wasting the schools money when it could be going to the art programs.…

On a playground in grade school every child has been in an argument saying “boys and girls drool” or vice versa. In this day and age those same kids have grown up and women have gain equal rights with men which they deserve. There’s an argument saying that men and women should be playing sports together as well.…

Females should undoubtedly be allowed to play on male sports’ teams. In this world of inequality there are few things we can do to alleviate that.
