Formal codes of conduct describes what is considered acceptable and unacceptable professional behavior. The American Psychological Associations (2010) amended code of ethics is very detailed, reflecting the different professional roles of psychologists in research, clinical treatment and educational texts (Maxfield & Babbie, 2016). Paul Reynolds (1979, 442-449) has created a composite code for the use of human subjects in research, drawing on 24 codes of ethics published by the national associations of social scientists.
