In the book “Codename Zero”, I think that every time the protagonist, Carson, goes to school it becomes more stressful and the stakes are higher. For a while he goes to school like normal and pulls pranks. But, one day a mysterious man gave him a machine that would self destruct in 48 hours at school. He finally gives it away but then is swept into a secret agency who are trying to protect the world. His task is to protect a kid but, guys in suits keep snooping around his school. Everyday he goes to school and he has another problem he has another worry about.
