As previously stated there is a code of honor basically in all forms of life. The novel shows Hispanic cultural references as well as what the people believe. In America people have more free reign to do as they feel which would be related to free will but in Hispanic culture they believe more of fate and a destiny and that their path has already been laid out from God himself. Personally there are some connections that I have with the novel such as a code but there are times in which they can not simply be followed. One being thou shalt not kill, if I was to be threatened and my life was in the enemy hands I would fight in order to survive at all cost. But someone of Hispanic descent might accept what is about to happen as they believe it
